Is the Killer B Motorsport Cast Hard Turbo Inlet the best inlet you can buy for your EJ? We think so.

Made from precision cast aluminum, a reliability upgrade from the plastic failure prone OEM version. Long swoopy bends reduce turbulence, increase flow capacity, and add cool turbo sounds that will instantly add street cred. Using cast aluminum the Killer B Motorsport inlet will not have pressure drop, and will not collapse like a silicone inlet can. Designed and made in the USA.

  1. 2018 STI, 3” Inlet, OEM Fuel Lines & TGVs

First off quality is good and really not a better option out their for hard inlets. The NPT taps were a bit off centered. The bosses should be a little bit bigger in diameter and would be an easy pattern fix for their casting. It took me some time to get fitted properly and had to do some additional modifications from what was listed in the instructions.

I installed this on a 2018 STI with a Blouch 1.5XTR w/3” Inlet, stock fuel lines, and stock TGVs. When I emailed them to check fitment, they mentioned they are not aware of any in the OEM fuel and TGV configuration.

Things I needed to do for installation:
I filed down the front ant rear TGV bolt housing to be flush with the diameter of the bolt head. This is needed to get the clearance for the silicone coupler. Might not be needed on the front side but definitely needed on the back (turbo side) and wanted as much clearance as possible on the front.

I also moved the hard fuel lines down to give more clearance. I left them bolted in place and used a 6” extension and deep socket to reach the bracket that ties the two hard lines together and used a mallet to tap that location to bend the hard lines down.

I also opted for an AMR 3” turbo offset coupler as it is a little bit thinner and helps to take the transition easier than the Killer B one. Take your time trimming down the coupler and ensuring it’s clocked correctly. I used a hose clamp as a guide when cutting with a utility knife. The length of perfect when you no longer cover up the rear most port (mine was plugged) and it is not kinked.

I also filed the inlet mounting tab side down that references to the tab on the manifold to give me more “play”.

I had to bend the PCV hard line as mentioned in the instructions and that worked out fine.

I did not need to modify the BPV hose at all.

I changed out the hose clamps to Breeze liner clamps that have the smooth inside and give a very firm clamp feel. I used the OEM BPV clamp.

I have an IAG AOS V3 and needed to keep the rear more port plugged as it was just too tight. I ended up using 1/2ID Hose-1/4NPT elbow at the front fitting (the one that went to the EBCS) and tied the EBCS and Purge Valve together with a 3/8” Tee.

It is very tight but it can absolutely be installed without pulling off the manifold in my configuration. I found it was easier to mount the coupler to the turbo and push the inlet into it. Get yourself a good hose installation pick set and use some lube when installing.
  2. Gains!

Install was pretty straight forward if you watch their video on youtube. Trimming the coupler was tricky. Make sure you have it clocked right and you trim both ends. I've seen other people claim it doesn't fit but I don't think they had a clue what they were doing.

My car pushes just under 600hp on an FP. After the hard inlet I had a 21hp gain and it doesn't collapse.
  3. so easy

I didn't need to take off the intake. Tight fit but pretty easy install.

*Installed on a 2017 STI* with Blouch Dom 1.5XTR and haven't had any issues. Trimming the coupler is the scary part, but they do sell replacements. Fitting the inlet is easy if you follow the provided instructions (set aside PS pump, remove alternator, install fittings before final fitting). To make the install easier, first consider how the coupler needs to be clocked on the pipe so that when you push it into position the coupler slides onto the turbo without too much fight; if you're struggling too much, the coupler might not be clocked correctly and will bind easier. Because the larger inlet pipe shifts the BPV hose over, I trimmed ~3/4" from my BPV return hose at the inlet to prevent the hose from being kinked against the DBW module.

I would definitely recommend this over a silicon inlet. It takes up less room since it doesn't need to be thick for rigidity, won't flex, and I was able to get it installed without loosening the manifold.
  5. Good product, harder install than I thought.

The gains were as advertised. I'm new to Subarus so not that familiar with the engine yet. It took me almost three hours to install. I know that's much better than other hard inlets but it was still tough for a newbie. I imagine someone with experience would get this done quicker. Overall it was worth it for the improvement. Cheap way to add HP.
